Offshore Stations' Pop Charts

The following station charts are included on The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame:

We asked Tom Lodge if the two Caroline stations used the same charts. He replied: “The two ships were always separate. I created the charts on whichever ship I was on, mostly from (the chart in) Melody Maker (magazine). We made some subtle changes, but not much, mostly from information we would receive from sales and also feedback from the audience. But that was extremely minimal. Melody Maker was our main source. What was happening, chart-wise, on the ship I was not on, I have no idea.” Tom left Caroline in 1966 and we think the two ships used identical charts from around that time until the introduction of the Marine Offences Act in August 1967. After that, the irregular supply of new records made it impossible for the two Caroline ships to operate proper weekly chart shows.
