The fans' memorabilia - Ed Moreno

Mavis Kemsley was a big fan of DJ Ed Moreno on Radio Invicta. She contacted The Pirate Radio Hall of Fame: “I was remembering the old days when I used to write to Ed Moreno on Radio Invicta. My friends and I used to meet every Tuesday for a coffee morning and we signed ourselves Kath, Vera and Mavis. Ed was appearing locally at a scout fête. The enclosed photos were taken at that event, I believe in 1965. His signature tune was The Nearness of You and I always think of him when I hear it played. He had the same taste in music as myself, Matt Monro and Andy Williams being a couple of favourites. So sad that he died as he did, but will always be remembered by myself and others who appreciated his warm voice.” Our grateful thanks to Mavis for her memories of Ed and the photos.
