On 14th October 2004 the great and the good of BBC local radio gathered in Birmingham
for the annual Frank Gillard Awards. These are presented each year for outstanding programmes on local radio.
BBC Essex presenter Ray Clark won a gold award for All At Sea, his excellent documentary about the sixties
offshore stations which told the story from the perspective of the loyal listeners. You can hear this award-winning
programme here.
The team from Pirate BBC Essex also won a bronze award for Best Outside Broadcast. Many thanks to BBC Essex
Programmes Editor Tim Gillett for forwarding these pictures and congratulations to you all on two very well deserved
awards.
